Common Name or Meaning The Ipanema Bulbophyllum [A town in Minas Gerais Brazil]

Flower Size 5/8" [1.5 cm]

Found in the Pedra Branca area of Minas Gerais as well as the state of Minas De Gerais, Bahia, Rio De Janiero and Espirito Santo states of Brazil at elevations around 1800 meters as a miniature sized, cool to cold growing lithophytic orchid with 4 angled, elliptic pseudobulbs carrying a single, apical, erect, coraceous, linear, obtuse, cuneate below into the base leaf that blooms in the fall in situ on a basal erect, green, successively 2 to 4, many flowered inflorescence

This species is similar to B involutum but it differs in the lax and spotty [only one or 2 open at a time] flowered, red wine colored inflorescence compared to B impanemense that has a green inflorescence with 2 to 4 flowers open at a time
