Found in Madagascar in high elevation forest remnants and evergreen humid forests at elevations of 900 to 1700 meters as a small sized, warm to cool growing epiphyte with a short ascending rhizome with .4 to 1.2" [1 to 3 cm] between each conical longitudinally deeply grooved, apically rounded, yellowish gree, olive green to reddish orange pseudobulbs carrying 2, apical, erect speading, ligulate to narrowly oblong, slightly emarginate, pale green to olive green, contacted below into the base leaves that blooms in the spring and summer on an erect, rigid, peduncle [7 to 18 cm] long, provided with 2 to 4 tubular, sheaths, rachis thickened, subdensely racemose, 5.6 ro 11.2" [14 to 28 cm] long, successively 1 to 4, to 30 flowered inflorescence with lanceolate attenuate, verrucose on the exterior, greenishbrown, dark red at the very base, longer than the pedicel and ovary. floral bracts
