Found in the Philippines on the island of Palawan at elevations around 1000 meters as a miniature sized, warm to cool growing epiphyte with a short rhizome giving rise to irregularily globose, sulcate pseudobulbs enveloped by small, basal sheaths and carrying most often 1, occasionally 2, apical, broadly elliptic, acute, suffused with red, leathery, thick, stiff, sessile base leaves that blooms in the fall on an erect, to .84" [2.1 cm] long, with 3 to 4 alternating bracts enveloping the base of each flower, to 12 flowered inflorescence with lanceolate-ovate, acuminate floral bracts and carrying greenish in youth becoming purplsh with age flowers.
