Found in New Guinea and the Solomon Islands in forests at elevations around 1200 meters as a mini-miniature sized, cool growing epiphyte with close set, cylindrical-oblong pseudobulbs carrying a single, apical, erect-patent, lanceolate, acute, narrowly subpetiolate base leaf that blooms in the late fall and early winter on a basal, erect, setiform, glabrous .4 to .6" [1 to 1.5 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence with cucullate, obtuse, very small, much shorter than the pedicellate ovary floral bracts.
Schlechter states that the erect flowers are dark wine red
