Common Name The Large Flowered Bulbophyllum

Flower Size .8" [2 cm] wide

Found in the Philippines in dense forests at elevations around 1200 meters as a small sized, cool growing epiphyte with 4 to 6.4" [10 to 16 cm] between each cylindrical, flattened pseudobulb carrying a single, apical, erect, elliptic, acuminate, petiolate base leaf that blooms in the later spring on an erect to patent, peduncle 2.8 to 5.2" [7 to 13 cm] long, few bracted, rachis to .4" [1 cm] long, 5.6 to 6.4" [14 to 16 cm] long overall, congested, 2 to 3 flowered inflorescence with ovate, acute floral bracts and carrying resupinate, fragrant, simultaneously opening flowers.

This species is similar to B monstrabile but it differs mostly in the flowers that do not exceed the bracts much and the pointed lip
