Found in penninsular Malaysia, the Moluccas and the Philippines at elevations up to 550 meters as a small sized, hot to warm growing epiphyte with 4" [10 cm] between each, small pseudobulb carrying a single, apical, erect, leathery, elliptic, petiolate base leaf that blooms on an erect, basal, to 2.6" [6.5 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence carrying a non resupinate flower that has a sweet scent.
This orchid is often cited as a synonym of B cheiri but it has resupinate flowers with a different lip and fragrant flowers that do not smell well while this one has sweetly scented flowers that are non resupinate, a different column and a different lip shape.
