Found in New Guinea on trees in range forests at elevations around 1800 to 2300 meters as a small to just medium sized, cool to cold growing, branching epiphyte with distant, adnate to the rhizome, cylindrical pseudobulbs carrying a single, apical, erect-patent, ligulate to oblong, apiculate, narrowing below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms in the later spring on an erect, very short, single flowered inflorescence.

The flowers are yellow with red margined petals.
