Found in Sabah Borneo in podosol forests in deep shade at elevations around 490 meters as a small sized, hot growing epiphyte with a creeping rhizome with .6 to 2" [1.5 to 5 cm] between each cylindrical, somewhat flattened, 6 angled pseudobulbs enveloped in youth by a grey sheath becoming fibrous with age and carrying a single, apical, erect, narrowly elliptic, acute to acuminate, attenuate to the slender petiolate base leaf that blooms in the fall on an erect, 3.2 to 4" [8 to 10 cm] long, single to 2 flowered inflorescence with ovate, acute floral bractss
Similar to B subumbellatum but this one differs in the smaller plant, 1 to 2 flowered inflorescence with wide open, creamy with bold purple nerves and a violet lip. The petals do not have a 4mm long tail and the column has 2 distinct stelida. flowers
