Found in New Guinea on trees in forests at elevations around 800 meters as a large sized, warm growing epiphyte with an elongate rhizome giving rise to ascending almost parellel to the rhizome, cylindrical pseduobulbs carrying a single, apical, erect, ovate to suborbicular leaf that blooms in the winter on an erect, thin, basal, sparsely muricate, 2.8 to 4" [7 to 10 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence carrying a nodding flower
