Found in New Guinea on open stony slopes at elevations of 3200 to 3250 meters as a mini-miniature sized, cold growing terresrial with a short, branched rhizome giving rise to close set, subglobose to elliptic, longitudinally grooved pseudobulbs carrying a single, apical, erect, oblong or lanceolate to more or less ovate, acute, fleshy, above longitudinally channelled with convex sides, base shortly petiolatate-contracted leaf that blooms in the late fall and winter on a from the rhizome; peduncle thin, c. 1.6" [4 cm] long, provided with c. 3 small, tubular, keeled sheaths, single flowered inflorescence with tubular-funnel-shaped, keeled, apex obliquely truncate, very shortly apiculate floral bracts.
