Found in New Guinea in lower montane forests on tall trees at elevations around 200 to 1800 meters as a medium sized, hot to coolgrowing epiphyte with ovoid, grey-green pseudobulbs carrying a single, apical, erect, elliptic-ligulate, subacute, gradually narrowing below into the short attenuate petiolate base leaf that blooms in the winter on an erect, laxly 3 to 7, successively flowered, 18" [45 cm] long inflorescence with elliptic, less than half as long as the pedicellate ovary floral bracts.
