Found in the New Guinea, The Bismark Islands and the Solomon Islands in montane ridge forests in moss cushions at elevations of 1500 to 1600 meters as a small sized, cool growing epiphyte with a creeping rhizome giving rise to well spaced, conical pseudobulbs carrying a single, apical, erect, elliptic, petiolate base leaf that blooms on a basal from the rhizome, spreading, peduncel completely enveloped by lareg, ovate, acute bracts, to 8" [20 cm] long, to 7 flowered inflorescence with floral bracts that envelop the not well opening, pale green spotted purple flowers with a purple lip.
