Common Name The Almost Broad Lip Diplocaulobium

Found in the New Guinea, The Bismark Islands and the Solomon Islands in montane ridge forests in moss cushions at elevations of 1500 to 2000 meters as a small sized, cool growing epiphyte with a creeping rhizome giving rise to well spaced, conical pseudobulbs carrying a single, apical, erect, elliptic, petiolate base leaf that blooms in the winter and spring on a basal from the rhizome, spreading, peduncel completely enveloped by large, ovate, acute bracts, to 8" [20 cm] long, to 7 flowered inflorescence with greenish or olive green, with or without purple spots, ovate, acuminate floral bracts that envelop the not well opening, pale green spotted purple flowers with a purple lip.
