Common Name The Flat Bulb Bulbophyllum

Flower Size 1/2" [1.1 cm]

Found in peninsular Malaysia, Thailand, Borneo as well as Sumatra in lowlands and hill forests creeping on mossy tree trunks and branches at elevations around 700 meters as a mini-miniature sized, hot to warm growing epiphyte with flattened, ovoid to ellipsoid, parallel to the rhizome, reddish to brownish purple pseudobulbs and carrying a single apical, thick elliptic, apically bidentate, gradually narrows below in to the sessile base leaf that blooms on an erect to descending, slender, lax, reddish to purple, 3 3/4" [9 cm] long, 2 to 5 flowered, arising laterally from the base, subumbellate inflorescence

Originally described erroneously as a Cirrhopetalum and later moved to Bulbophyllum and the section Desmosanthes and now has been moved t oits own section Planibulbus.
