Found in Sabah and Sarawak Borneo in upper montane, mossy forests at elevations around 1700 meters as a small sized, warm to cool growing epiphyte with a creeping rhizome with .8 to 1.2" [2 to 3.5 cm] between each cylindrical to narrowly ovoid, narrowed above pseudobulb carrying a single, apical, oblong-elliptic, retuse to rounded, coriaceous, gradually narrowing below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms in the spring on an erect, wiry, purplish green, to 28.8" [77 cm] long, densely successively many flowered inflorescence with 5 small, remote, purplish green, ovate, acute, amplexical, sterile bracts and has ovate-elliptic, acuminate floral bracts
