Common Name or Meaning The Popayan Bulbophyllum [A city in southern Colombia]

Flower Size

Found in Santander, Tolima and Cauca departments of Colombia in montane forests at elevations of 1200 to 1800 meters as a miniature to small sized, cool growing epiphyte or lithophyte with a conspicuous rhizome with .4 to .6" [1 to 1.5 cm] betweeen eachovate, transversely rhombic pseudobulb and carrying asingle,, apical, coriaceous, flat, oblog, obtuse, contracted below into the base leaf that blooms in the fall on an erect, 12 to 16" [30 to 40 cm] long, racemose, many flowered inflorescnece subtended by a cylindrical sheath and carrying membraneous flowers.

Similar to B meridense but differs in the larger flowers with a longer lip.
