Common Name The Purple Hair Bulbophyllum [refers to the appendages of the lip]

Found in Sabah Borneo in undisturbed, very open Kerangas forests at elevations around 1100 meters as a miniature sized, cool growing epiphyte with a hanging rhizome with .6 to .92" [1.5 to 2.3 cm] between each ellipsoid, hardly flattened pseudobulb carrying a single, apical, thick, elliptic, medium green suffused with brownish to purplish, petiolate base leaf that blooms at any time of the year on a .8" [2 cm] long overall, peduncle .2" [.5 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence with tubular, much shorter than the ovary floral bracts and carrying non-fragrant, entirely bright purple flowers often with a pinkish to whitish apex and occasionally with an all white flower.
