Found in New Guinea on trees along rivers in range forests at elevations around 800 meters as a small sized, warm growing, epiphyte with cylindrical, subparellel to the rhizome pseudobulbs carrying a single, apical, erect, drying black, oblanceolate, ligulate, minutely apiculate, narrowing below into the base leaf that blooms in the fall on a short, single flowered inflorescence with very small, shorter than the ovary floral bracts.

The flowers are closely red spotted and the lip is dark red with a green apex.
