Common Name Rutenberg's Bulbophyllum

Flower Size .16 to .24" [4 to 6 mm]

Found in northern and central Madagascar in lichen rich evergreen forests at elevations around 1300 to 2500 meters as a mini-miniature sized, cool to cold growing epiphyte with .4 to .6" [1 to 1.5 cm] between each ovoid pseudobulbs carrying a single, apical, oblong-ligulate, shortly contracted basally leaf that blooms in the spring, summer and earlier fallon a basal, erect, peduncle .4 to 1" [1 to 2.5 cm] long, longer than the leaf, rachis clear yellow, 2.4 to 3.6" [6 to 9 cm] long overall, densely many flowered inflorescence with oval-acuminate, half as long as the flower floral bracts.
