Found in Malaysia, Borneo, Java and Sumatra in primary forests at elevations of 1000 to 3000 meters as a miniature sized, warm to cold growing epiphyte on main tree branches with a basally rooting rhizome then hanging free to 8 to 12" long with .8" [2 cm] between each very small, broad and flat pseudobulbs carrying a single, ovate, erect, convex from above, more or less acute, shortly petiolate base leaf that blooms in the winter on a dense globular head arising from the rhizome, on a 1.4" [3.5 cm] long, 10 to 20 flowered inflorescence
