Found in Assam India, eastern Himalayas, Nepal, Bhutan, Sikkim, southern China, Myanmar, Thailand, Laos and Vietnam in montane temperate or tropical evergreen to shrub forests, at elevations of 1000 to 2500 meters as a miniature sized, cool to cold growing epiphyte with close set, depressed conical to lenticular pseudobulbs carrying a single, apical, linear, subacute, basally narrowing into the channeled petiolate base leaf that blooms in the spring and summer on a basal, peduncle 2 to 5.4" [5 to 13.2 cm], provided with c. 4 bracts, rhachis not thickened, .88 to 4.4" [2.2 to 11 cm] long, just exceeding leaf height, successively several, 8 to 23 flowered inflorescence with triangular, acute to acuminate, shorter than the ovary floral bracts and carrying distichous toscattered, resupinate, secund, not fully opening flowers..
