Found in Amazonas department of Colombia, Venezuela, Guyana and northern Brazil in savannahs at elevations of sealevel to 100 to 500 meters in rainforests, open savannahs and low open scrub as a small sized, hot growing epiphyte with a repent rhizome enveloped by gray sheathing with .6 to 1.2" [1.5 to 3 cm] between each narrowly ovoid, grooved pseudobulbs carrying a single, apical, erect, fairly rigid, margins somewhat revolute, sharp edged, middle vein sulcate, dorsally angled, narrowly elliptic, acute, basally constricted leaf that blooms in the later spring, summer and mid fall on an erect becoming geniculate, peduncle to 4.4" [11 cm] long, rachis to 1.6" [4 cm] long, several flowered inflorescence with ovate acute, glabrous floral bracts and carrying externally brown sepals with some maroon spotting, internally brown with dark maroon veins and apices.
Similar to B meristorachis in having the apical part of the lip with some hairs or papillae but differs in the lip adorned on the upper surface by alongitudinal low keeel flanked by 2 prominent lamellae on both siides versus ecallose in B meristorachis.
