Common Name The Drop Top Bulbophyllum [refers to the lip shape]

Found in Papua New Guinea in unknown elevations as a miniature sized, ascending epiphyte with a creeping rhizome with .64 to .88" [1.6 to 2.8 cm] between each ovoid pseudobulb carrying a single, apical, elliptic-ovate, acute, petiolate base leaf that blooms on an erect to patent, peduncle 1.48" [3.7 cm] long, provided with 2 bracts, 1.86 to 2.16" [4.9 to 5.4 cm] long overall, single flowered inflorescence with a tubular, acuminate floral bract.
According to J J Vermuellen - " Bulbophyllum alkmaarense J. J. Sm. has a lip of roughly similar shape. Bulbophyllum stalagmotelos differs in many characters, among them the shorter and wider sepals (dorsal sepal .4 x .568" [10 x 14.2 mm] in B. alkmaarense), ovate-triangular petals and a rugose-papillose lip."
