Found in Sulawesi in mossy riverine and dry forests on very steep slopes at elevations of 500 to 2500 meters as a small sized, warm to cold growing epiphyte with rather stiff, patent to pendulous, sparsely to frequently branching rhizomes with 1.2 to 4.4" [3 to 11 cm] between each cylindrical pseudobulb carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, ovate to elliptic or terete to laterally flattened, gradually narrowing below into the .16 to 1.6" [.4 to 4 cm] long, petiolate base leaf that blooms in the winter on a porrect, 1.36 to 5.2" [3.4 to 13 cm] long, 8 to 50 flowered inflorescence with acute floral bracts and carrying sometimes fragrant flowers
