"Most similar to B plumatum but the new species differs in the lateral sepals fused close to the base only and along the the upper as well as the lower margins. B plumatum on the other hand are fused along a considerable part of their length but along the upper margin only. The lateral sepal shape is different as well, wide and ovate in B thiurum tapering into a caudate top part, but in B plumatum it is strap shaped and barely widened near their base. B thiurum has hair like appendages on the petals and alomst hair-like vesicles near the top. In B plumatum all vesicles up to the tip of the appendage are rounded." J J Verm & P O'Byrne 2005
