Found in Papua New Guinea in lowland rainforests as a small sized, hot to warm growing epiphyte on branches at the edge of the forest or on the lower trunks of large trees at elevations of 40 to 1200 meters with a thick, woody, bristle covered rhizome with 2" [5 cm] between each ovoid to cylindrical pseudobulbs enveloped basally by a ring of bristles and carrying a single, apical, oblong, channeled into a terete petiole basally, leathery, green to yellow green leaf that blooms in the fall through spring on a slender, arising from the rhizome between the pseudobulbs, a 1 1/8" to 3 5/8" [3 to 9 cm] long, inflorescence with 5 basal overlapping sheathing bracts giving rise to a solitary, fragrant [sweet honey], short lived [1 to 3 days] flower that has a moveable labellum.
A cool to hot growing species that needs a large mount, partial shade and constant moisture.
