Common Name The Twisted Flower Bulbophyllum

Flower Size 1" [2.5cm]

Found in Papua New Guinea in rainforests as an epiphyte at elevations of 150 to 500 meters as a small to just medium sized, hot growing epiphyte with a long, thick, creeping rhizome covered in brown bristles giving rise to large, erect, ovoid to oblong, green, smooth in youth and rugose with age pseuodbulbs that are enveloped basally by a ring of brown bristles and having 2 to 6" between each pseudobulb carrying a single, apical, oblong to elliptic, obtuse to retuse, petiolate, stiff, thick and leathery leaf that blooms in the spring, summer and fall a single flowered, basal, 4" [10 cm] long inflorescence with 5 papery brown sheathing bracts giving rise to a waxy, not opening well, upward facing, slightly scented flower that has a goblet appearance with the column in the middle.
