Found in New Guinea in range forests on trees at elevations around 1200 meters as a medium sized, cool growing epiphyte with compressed, narrowly elliptic, adpressed to the rhizome pseudobulbs carrying a single, apical, erect, broadly ovate to suborbicular, apiculate leaf that blooms in the early summer on a very short, single flowered inflorescence with acuminate, papillose-rough, as long as the ovary floral bracts and carrying an erect-patent flower
Schlechter states that the flowers are dark carmine red becoming almost white at the base.
