Found in Borneo on trunks and branches low to the forest floor at elevations of 400 to 1600 meters as a mini-miniature sized, hot to cool growing epiphyte with .12 to .48" [.3 to 1.2 cm] between each, distinct, suberect, ellipsoid to globose, not angular pseudobulb carrying a single, apical, erect, elliptic to ovate, acuminate, petiolate base leadf that blooms in the spring on a .28 to .68" [.7 to 1.7 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence.

"This species belongs to SECTION Monanthaparva Ridl. 1896. The general habitis similar to B. lordoglossum. Within this section itis well characterized by the long median ridge on the lip, which is flanked at the base by two knobs. The name refers to the delicate shape of this species: 'tryssos' (Greek): 'delicate'." Vermeulen & Lamb 1994
