Found in New Guinea on trees in range forests at elevations around 1300 meters as a small to medium sized, cool growing epiphyte with a rigid, cauliform rhizome giving rise to distant, strongly adnate cylindrical pseudobulbs carrying a single, apical, erect to erect-patent, ligulate to oblong, apiculate, leaf that blooms in the late fall and early winter on a very short single flowered inflorescence

Schlechter states that the flowers are brown, the petals white with a red margin and a central red stripe.
