Found in New South Wales, Victoria, and Tasmania Australia at elevations of sea level to 600 meters in dense shrubby swamps as a miniature sized, cool to cold growing terrestrial with an ovoid tuber giving rise to an erect, purple stem carrying a leaf-like basal, conduplicate, acute, inflated bract that blooms in the spring on an erect, 1.2 to 5.2" [3 to 13 cm] long, 1 to 7 flowered inflorescence carrying fleshy flowers.
