A small sized, cold growing terrestrial from eastern Australian and New Zealand occuring in open forest and heathland in moist to well-drained soils at elevations of sea level to 500 meters with a basal, single, large, deeply channeled, thick, leaf that flowers in the spring and early summer on a 24" [60 cm] long, robust inflorescence with 2 triangular bracts and up to 15 flowers.
