Found in Assam, Bangladesh, the eastern Himalayas, Guangxi, Guizhou and Yunnan provinces of China, Laos, Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam in broad-leaved forests or shady damp places on grassy slopes at elevations of 260 to 2000 meters as a small to medium sized, hot to cool growing terrestrial with subconical pseudobulbs carrying 2 to 3, narrowly elliptic to elliptic-lanceolate, acuminate, contracted below into the petiolate base leaves that blooms in the spring and early summer on an erect, arising from the previous years leafless pseudobulb, shortly pubescent, rachis .8 to 2" [2 to 5 cm], densely few to many flowered inflorescence with persistent, ovate-lanceolate, abaxial surface with short hairs floral bracts.
