Found in Sabah Borneo near Mount Kinabalu in upper montane scrub forests on old landslide areas on ultramafic substrates in full sun at elevations of 2500 to 3000 meters as a medium sized, cold growing lithophyte or terrestrial orchid with ovoid, 3 to 4 noded pseudobulbs enveloped completely by leaf bases and carrying 2 to 4, plicate, oblong-lanceolate, acuminate, gradually narrowing basally into the petiolate base leaves that blooms in the winter through early summer on an erect, terminal, racemose, shortly pubescent, 34.2 to 48" [83 to 110 cm] long, laxly 14 to 20 flowered inflorescence with lancelate, acuminate bracts and persistent, dark green, narrowly oblong-linear, acuminate floral bracts and carrying sweetly scented flowers
