Common Name The Striped Calanthe

Flower Size 1 1/2" to 2 1/2" [3.8 to 6.5 cm]

Found in Taiwan, China, Korea, Ryukyu Islands and Japan in lowland and lower montane forests as a medium sized, cool to cold growing terrestrial with a small, ovoid pseudobulb enveloped by leaf sheaths and carrying broadly elliptic, plicate, acute, glabrous above, minutely pubescent beneath leaves that blooms in the winter through spring on an erect, developing before the leaves are fully expanded, glabrous, rachis to 2.4 to 6" [6 to 15 cm] long, overall 16 to 20" [40 to 50 cm] long, terminal, laxly many flowered, racemose inflorescence with linear-lanceolate, acuminate floral bracts and carrying citrus scented flowers.
