Common Name The Tainia Like Calanthe

Flower Size .8" [2 cm]

Found in penninsular Malayasia, Java and Sumatra at elevations around 1600 meters as a medium sized, cool growing terresttrial with a small pseudobulb carrying a single, elliptic, 5 to 7 nerved, glabrous above, finely hairy beneath, petiolate base leaf that blooms on an erect, distinctly patently shortly hairy, peduncle 8.8 to 13.6" [22 to 34 cm] long, 12 to 16.8" [30 to 42 cm] long overall, rachis 3.2" [8 cm] long, 10 to 14 flowered inflorescence with persistent, triangular floral bracts and carrying small white flowers.

Seidenfaden states that this orchid is one of a small group of Calanthe with single leaves and this one can be easily separated by the spur that is half as long as C monophylla and the epichile of the lip contracted inot a long cuspidate tip that is not bilobulately widening.
