Found in Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia in montane cloud forests at elevations around 200 to 1700 meters as a small sized, hot to cool growing epiphyte with small [when present] flattenned, pseudobulbs enveloped basally by several sheaths with the uppermost being leaf-bearing carrying a single, apical, thin, obovate, acuminate, plicate leaf that narrows basally to become subpetiolate and blooms at any time of the year on an erect, axillary, single flowered, 2" [5 cm] long inflorescence..
