Common Name de Vogel's Chelonistele [Dutch Orchidologist current]
Flower Size 1.8" [4.5 cm]
Found in Sarawak Borneo in montane and elfin forests on trunks and main branches often in mosses at elevations of 1500 to 2000 meters as a small to medium sized, cool growing epiphyte that differs from the type mainly in the color [white] and in the much larger flower and blooms in the later spring on a proteranthous to synanthous, slightly zigzag, to 10.8" [to 27 cm] long, 4 to 12 flowered inflorescence with ovate to ovate-oblong, glabrous to slightly minutely hairy floral bracts.
