Common Name The Robust Chiloglottis - The Large Bird Orchid

Flower Size to 1 3/5" [to 4 cm]

A miniature sized, cool to cold growing Australian terrestrial that is found in New South Wales, Victoria and Tasmania occuring at elevations of 500 to 1500 meters on moist slopes and gullies in sub-alpine forests with an elliptic tuber giving rise to a short stem carrying 2 dark green, basal, elliptic, obtuse leaves and flowers there in early spring till mid summer on an solitary flowered, erect, 1.2" [3 cm] long inflorescence and has the largest, hinged lip, flowers in the genus.
