Common Name or Meaning The Aromatic Cochleanthes

Found in Costa Rica and Panama as a cool to warm growing epiphyte occuring at 1000 to 2000 meters without pseudobulbs, yet having plicate, linear-ligulate to ellptic-lanceolate, acute to shortly acuminate leaves held in a fan-shape that blooms mostly in August till October on an erect to arcuate, axillary, 3 to 4" [7.5 to 20 cm] long, erect peduncle with a solitary, large, heavy textured, long-lived fragrant flower held amid or below the leaves.
