Found in Sulawesi {Celebes] in lower and upper montane forests low down on mossy tree trunks at elevations of 1100 to 2000 meters as a medium sized, warm to cool growing epiphyte with close set, oblong-ovoid to elongated pseudobulbs carrying 2, apical, erect, lanceolate, acute-acuminate, plicate, 5 nerved, coriaceous, gradually narrowing below into the elongate petiollate base leaves that blooms in the spring on a bare, flattened, elliptical in cross-section, 2.4 to 7.2" [6 to 18.5 cm] long, slightly fractiflex to straight rachis, several flowered inflorescence arsing with a newly emerging growth with deciduous floral bracts and successively opening flowers.
