Found in Sulawesi [Celebes] in roadside forests at elevations of sealevel to 1000 meters as a large sized, hot to warm growing epiphyte with close set to 1" [2.5 cm] between each, cylindric, 4 ridged in youth pseudobulbs carrying 1 to 2, apical, obovate-lanceolate, acuminate, coriaceous, plicate, gadually narrowing below into the grroved, petiolate, base leaves and blooms in the late winter and early spring on a slender, suberect, to 16.2" [to 41 cm] long, fractiflex rachis, slightly arcuate, 3 to 7 flowered inflorescence arising on an newly emerging growth with ovate-lanceolate, acuminate, deciduous floral bracts and carrying successively opening flowers.
