Common Name or Meaning The Umbrella-Like Coelogyne

Flower Size Up to 2 3/4" [to 7 cm]

A creeping, small sized, cold to cool growing, epiphytic species from Nepal, Bhutan, NE India, and China that is found at elevations of 1400 to 3000 meters with short, clustered, ovoid to subrhomboidal pseudobulbs envelopd basally by a few dark brown sheaths and carrying 2 apical, ellptic-lanceolate, suberect, plicate, 5 nerved, acute, gradually narrowing below in tothe elongate, grooved, petiolate base leaves that blooms with a terminal, erect or pendant, basally sheathed, to 8" [to 20 cm] long, racemose inflorescence arising on a newly emerging pseusobulb growth has persistent floral bracts and with 2 to 5, simultaneously opening, fragrant, heavy textured flowers occuring in the summer and fall.
