Found in western Sichuan and western Yunnan states of China in forests on rock outcrops or along valleys on mossy rocks at elevations of 1500 to 2600 meters as a mini-miniature sized, cool to cold growing terrestrial or lithophyte with a subglobose to ovoid tuber giving rise to an erect, pilose, subterranean stem with a single short cataphyl at the base and a solitary, near the apex of the stem, sessile, cordate, reticulate venation, acute apically leaf that blooms in the later summer on a short, single flowered inflorescence with a lanceolate floral bract
