A medium sized, hot to cool growing epiphytic species from Colombia, southeastern Ecuador and northeastern Peru in lower montane forests at elevations around sea level to 1600 meters with conical to oblong-ovoid, ribbed pseudobulbs carrying 2 apical, plicate, narrowly elliptical leaves with a distinct channeled petiole that blooms in the late summer on a basal, pendant, 1 to 2 flowered, to 12" [30 cm] long, racemose inflorescence arising on a mature pseudobulb with several short, tubular sheaths that carries large, waxy, short lived, fragrant flowers, smelling strongly of mint.
