Found in Cocle province of Panama in wet montane forests at elevations of 950 to 1250 meters as a small to medium sized, warm to cool growing terrestrial with short, leafy stems enveloped by leaf sheaths and carrying several, elliptic, narrowly obtuse to abruptly acute, slightly undulate margins, membraneous, gradually narrowing below into the subpetiolate base leaves that blooms in the winter on a terminal, erect, elongate, 8 to 12" [20 to 30 cm] long, densely many flowered, racemose inflorescence with ovate, acuminate, fimbriate dentate, cucullate floral bracts and carrying resupinate flowers
