Found in central to south central Madagascar in grasslands and marshes and on islenbergs at elevations around 1300 to 1800 meters as a small to medium sized, cool growing terrestrial with a single, lanceolate, distinctly petiolate base leaf that blooms in the spring through fall on an erect, glandular, several flowered inflorescence holding the flowers towards the apex.
