Common Name Henry's Cypripedium [Irish Plant Collector in China 1800's] - In China Lu Hua Shao Lan

Flower Size 2 3/4" [7 cm]

This species is a medium to large sized, cool to cold growing terrestrial that occurs in south China in damp, humus rich soils in sparse forests or scrubby slopes at elevations of 800 to 2300 meters with an erect, pubescent stem carrying 4 to 5, ovate-oblong, plicate, glabrous to occasionally pubescent, acuminate leaves and blooms on a short, terminal, slender, glandular-pubescent inflorescence with ovate to lanceolate, glabrous bracts and carrying 2 to 4 flowers occuring in the spring.
