Cypripedium irapeanum has a similarity; the flowers are yellow in an intense tone; the dorsal sepal is ovate and acute; the convex petals are shallow, the apex is revolute, with an acumen that is somewhat conduplicate, triangular and obtuse; the lip is dilated toward the apex, obovoid in natural position, 2.4" [6 cm] in length, 1.56" [4.4 cm] in diameter, mouth .88" [2.2 cm] wide, a basal aperture approximately elliptical, .4" [1 cm] long, then a dilated indentation gradually forward, the rounded edges, near the base provided with two red macules and all around the mouth striped red, the broad lines, at the base hispid, the trichomes erect or adpressed, rectilinear, acuminate; he staminodio in side view is sigmoid, concave towards base, deltoid, .76" [1.9 cm] long, .48" [1.2 cm] wide in natural position, and ends in a barely arched, underextended triangular face; the stigma .38" [8.5 mm] long, .32" [8 mm] wide, densely warty, with a groove shaped like the letter "Y"; the median lobe isin general flabeliform in outline; the anthers .14" [3.5 mm] long, .16" [4 mm] wide."
