Found in Thailand, Malaysia, Sumatra, Java, Borneo, the Moluccas and the Philippines in hill forests in deep shade at elevations of 500 to 1700 meters as a small to medium sized, warm to cool growing, mycoheterotrophic terrestrial with erect, yellow, brown to red stems carrying pink, ovate, acute, sometimes overlapping scale leaves that blooms in the fall on an erect, terminal, 1.2 to 3.2" [3 to 8 cm] long, 3 to 10 flowered inflorescence with scarcely opening flowers
