Common Name The Plow Shaped Dendrobium

This smaller sized, hot to cool growing epiphyte is endemic to the island of Java growing in mixed hill forests on south facing hills near the coast at elevations up to 800 meters with horizontal stems with numerous leafy internodes carrying many, ovate-lanceolate leaves that twist to all face one direction that blooms on an axillary, 1.2 to 1.6" [3 to 4 cm] long, few to several [3 to 6] flowered inflorescence arising from older leafless and leeafy stems occuring in the winter and summer. This species requires a drier winter rest from fertilizer and a lessening in water until the new growths appear in the spring. Mounting is required for tis species to accomodate the horizontal growth habit as well as constant high humidity year round.
